Last semester, we had to make a group paper with a pre-determined title for our Nationalism class. Each group had 20 people in it, so there was way too many people on the job. I decided to split the group into smaller groups, each researching a certain topic, which I stitch together into a paper […]

My ex-husband and I separated about a year before the COVID pandemic started. It was a tough situation in general and it was definitely the right decision, but I was also dealing with a lot of depression and anxiety that built up over the preceding months. Any cat pawrent knows: when a feline touches your heart, they stay there forever. Whether it's a silly habit, a comforting purr, or the way they ruled your home like royalty - cats leave a mark. Years later, we might still talk about them or feel a lump in our throat when we hear their name. That's not weird - it's love. The kind of love that doesn't fade just because the whiskers do.

But there's remembering a beloved cat… and then there's using that memory to quietly override others' boundaries. When someone holds onto a cat's legacy in secretive, shady ways, especially without honesty or context, that's not sweet, it's disrespectful. To the cat, whose story deserves transparency. To the people around them, who deserve the truth. And in this story? The person didn't even admit they were honoring the cat. They just… kept quiet. That says a lot.

Summer is officially here, and while we humans might be melting into the nearest fan, cats? Cats are thriving. Sunbeam season is their time to shine. Literally. From stretching out in golden patches of sunlight to melting into the warm windowsill like a furry popsicle, cats know exactly how to make the most of summer.

If you thought life for a cat on the streets was tough, feline fam, the life of a lion is much worse. There are plenty of people who go out of their way to help and feed stray cats, but do you know of any people who feed outcast lions? We certainly don't. But that's what makes Ginger's story below so special. Ginger was the world's oldest recorded lion, who lived to a purrfectly remarkable age of 17 years in the wild. For reference, most don't live past 10.

But Ginger's story isn't just about his age. He was cast out of his pride and lived solo for years, until one day, he approached a pride of lions, led by his sons. He arrived to them nearly blind, his teeth filed down by time, and his face filled with memories of his long life - and yet, they accepted him back into their pride. He did his time and earned their respect, which is one of the hardest things to come by in the animal kingdom

Multicat households are familiar with the acclimatization of a new cat. This man, who already had a household full of spicy strays, knew that he couldn't bring home another kitten again. However, we all know that the Cat Distribution System works in mysterious ways, and sometimes our cats at home know better than we do. Because when this man saved a kitten at work, his cats knew just what to do.

Purrhaps it's unlikely that cats are clairvoyant, but sometimes it seems like our cats know what's going to happen before we do. Fortune tellers with floofy tails know that when their cat dad goes off to work in the morning, he may just return with a new kitty addition to the feline tribe back at home.

Ah, the weekend: a sacred time for hoomans to relax and for cats to go full-on caturday couch potato. These fluffballs have truly mastered the art of doing absolutely nothing. As soon as Friday hits, it's straight to the sofa for a two-day stretch of binge-napping, snack-demanding, and passive-aggressively hogging the best spot on the cushions.

No matter how many times you pat the armrest or call their name, that loaf-shaped lump isn't budging. Your cat heard "lazy weekend" and took it as a personal challenge. Exercise? Clawlarious. Productivity? Purrlease. This is a do not disturb unless you're holding treats kind of vibe.

They might lift a single paw in acknowledgment when you walk by or dramatically flop onto their back like a furry fainting Victorian. Occasionally, they'll switch positions just to keep their loaf-to-stretch ratio in check. But overall? Zero intention of moving until Monday.

So let them lounge. After all, someone's gotta keep the couch warm.

Every cat is wonderfully weird in their own way. Some scream for treats like tiny gremlins, others chirp at bugs in the window, and a few prefer silent stares that speak volumes. Some cats are snugglers, some are lurkers, and some are little acrobats with a flair for feline chaos. And then there are the quiet quackers - like the star of this story. This special floof doesn't meow much, but makes soft, silly sounds when he's content, and only speaks up when something really matters. His hooman doesn't just notice - she celebrates it. Because true cat pawrents know: understanding your cat's quirks is part of the joy of being owned by one.

Happy Caturday, feline fam! We grew up in a family with four dogs and only one cat. That essentially made us a dog person. We loved the cat, but the dogs just took up so much more space in our lives that we grew to love them more simply by their numbers. But we got older, moved out and lived on our own as adults, and realized that we missed that feeling of having a pet in our lives.

Our first instinct was to get a doggo, but that just wasn't in the cards. So, hesitantly, we went to a cat shelter and planned on coming back with a kitten - a fresh feline start. We ended up falling in love with a five-year-old cat that was returned for being "too cuddly". As soon as she got home, she crawled right into our laps, and we were sold. Below, you'll find more wholesome tales of humans who never liked cats - until one pawsitively stole their hearts. Enjoy!
